A Picture Worth More Than A Thousand Words

8 Year Old Christian Golczynski Accepts the Casket Flag of His FatherLEWISBURG A family, community and brothers in arms came together Wednesday to grieve for U.S. Marine Staff Sgt. Marcus Andrew “Marc” Golczynski, 30, who was killed in Iraq last week.

Hundreds attended the Marine’s funeral at the Church Street Church of Christ, sharing tears, laughter, song and prayer.

As 8-year-old Christian Golczynski accepted the flag from his father’s casket, tears flowed freely from the mourners, and even Marine Lt. Col. Ric Thompson, who presented the flag to the boy, showed a trace of emotion.

“My Marc made the sacrifice for my freedom,” said Heather Southward Golczynski, widow of the fallen Marine. “That is a debt I won’t ever be able to repay.” Read the rest of this entry »

Sand Springs’ firefighters continued their dominance over the police department in the game of softball Friday night, taking their third straight Mayor’s Cup.
More importantly, the two teams helped to raise $850 in cash, along with a pickup truck bed full of food, for Sand Springs Community Services.

The two teams faced off in a best-of-three matchup. Firefighters swept the first two games, neither of which were exactly defensive masterpieces, taking the title. The final scores were 18-8 and 20-14. Read the rest of this entry »

Build-A-Bear Trip

May 13th, 2007 by Gwenn

As an incentative to get out of diapers, Bryce was awarded a trip to Build-A-Bear.  We told him that if he could make it 2 months without having an accident we would take him to build his own bear.  Bryce kept track of his daily progress by charting with stickers.  He couldn’t wait for the big day, and when it finally arrived, he chose “Husky Lightning Hall” as his new found friend.  We are very proud of Bryce and his accomplishment - April 28th a day to remember!
